I am having problems with my 03 seville sts and can't keep the SES light from coming back on. It's an error code of P0446 (emission problems) and when going to several auto stores and because the part is not in stock they can't show me where on my engine the part is located. Does anyone have a picture of where on my northstar 4.6 the purge solenoid is located. It would be greatly appreciated.

 

Google it I did. illustration tab shows it. Dealer should have part and be able to show you where it is.

 

2002 Seville STS. There are two venting/purge solenoids. One is on the left side of the engine (on top), the other is located near the rear axle, left side, near the charcoal canister.

I have changed out both including the short piece of hose going from the solenoid to the canister and still have the code. I think I'm going to have to smoke the system to find out where the leak is.

 

Smoke test should show where leak is. Make sure you test cap, since smoke test uses filler to inject smoke.
