Hi everyone,

I just picked up a beautiful 01 STS 2 days ago, but it's already broke down on me in my driveway. I'm possibly going to take it in today to get it checked out, but I would like to hear from you guys on your opinions on what the issue may be.

Basically, the car starts ok. It idled ok for a few seconds and drastically went down to 500 rpm, right before the stall point. It engine stays on and runs..but when I hit the gas, it bogs and putts like something is clogged. If I keep the pedal down, it will put for 4-5 seconds at 500 rpm, and then the rpms will jump high. When I release the gas, it goes back down to 500rpm.

The exhaust is also smoking a little more than usual..then again, it was -2 C overnight here.

hi welcome to the forum. Congrats on a great car! it will be worth it very soon. ok you need to check the codes seivce engine light is on with a reader or by holding down arrow and on/off button on dic. either way you should get something out of it.But i know with mine i had the same symptons and it ended up being my fuel pump. weird never thought it to be as it would start idle up rev then just bog right out. check fuel pressure,codes let us know what you got

You can check the codes with the dashboard by pressing and holding two of the driver info buttons at the same time for a few seconds with the ignition on and the car not running.
