Hey guys,

My name is Michel and i'm from Holland. My dad owns a 2001 Seville STS and he enjoys the car really much, except for one thing. When the car didn't run for a while it has big starting issues. When he tries to start en turns over the key in the ignition nothing happens. The gages work, the lights work, the navigation works, everything looks normal but the engine doesn't do a thing. Not even a sound. After waiting a while and turning the key like twenty times it randomly starts like nothing is wrong. No weird sounds or anything else.

Does this sound familiar over here? And can anybody tell me where to start the search before bringing the car to the dealer?

I know this is an old post, but ..... not sure if that model has a chip in the key or not, could be that the resistor in the key isn't making contact to the tumbler. also have seen a starter do this as well, solenoid was bad on the starter. just a couple of things to look at

 

my 2001 does the same thing, i still can't figure out what is causing it to do this.

 

Has anyone solved this riddle yet? It’s getting very annoying. I realize this is a very old post but desperate
