Power Locks, interior lights problems

Power Locks, interior lights problems
The power locks won't activate and the interior lights won't go off when I put my 1994 Fleetwood in gear. Also, the interior lights won't go off for some time after the ignition if off. This problem appeared suddenly. Have searched posts and have not seen a problem like this. Any help would be appreciated as I am in Costa Rica and there is no Cadillac authorized repair centre in the country.

RE: Power Locks, interior lights problems
On the older Cads this problem was caused usually by a blown 20 amp fuse for courtesy lights. Labeled CSTY in the fuse box. blown fuse was caused by something metal, tin foil, dime etc in one of the cigarette lighter sockets. It would cause dim interior lights remaining on and no cigarette lighter function and power door locks would be inop. as well. hope this helps. Also the lighter socket can short if a loose cell phone charger adaptor is used.

RE: Power Locks, interior lights problems
Thanks for the quick reply. Checked all the fuses, all ok. Once today, when I put it in gear the doors locked, but the lights remained on, and then wouldnt unlock the door.
