Default Radio/Temp Control Switches Question

Have a 2001 Eldorado with steering wheel radio/temp switches that have never worked since I bought the car . They are there, but non-functional. Does the driver-side air bag need to come out for a fix, and is it as big a pain as it seems to get these functional again? Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They may not be plugged in. You would need to remove air bag to check. You would need to disconnect battery. There are 4 T30 torx screws that hold air bag to steering wheel. It will only work with original radio also.

Thanks Slowroll. I replaced the Bose system last week with an updated Kenwood unit. Wasn't about to spend $440.00 for a new Bose head unit alone. Looks cleaner, I have a new dash space for my junk, and it is Ipod ready. Don't plan to sell the car so no value change (for me). I guess my switch question is moot. Thanks again.
