Default Which Eldorado to look for?

I am seeking a nice 80's model Eldorado for a fun car/hobby car. I really like the body style of the 86-91 models and also the 92 Eldorado with the 4.9 engine. Can anyone tell me if these models are solid choices?

I have been looking at a 90 and 91 model -- clean, nice cars. Do these models ride and drive well? Any known issues? Better dependability than most Eldorados?

What about the 92 model?

Thanks so much for your help.
P.S. Would you buy an Eldorado that was NOT a Biarritz?

Thanks again!

Default RE: Which Eldorado to look for?

Hello, my wife and I had a 1990 Eldo Barritz that we put 200,000 miles on with very little problems. The biggest issue we had was with faulty ignition switches. The wires for the anti-theft system are poorly located in the column near the switch and shorted out about once a year causing a no start, and another new ign. switch. The last time it happened I just unplugged it at the base of the column and soldered a 1.8 Kohm resister in the circuit to bypass the anti- theft system. Other than that it was a very well built and reliable car. It had the 4.5 liter that had a good amount of power for a small V8. Other than the 4 ignition switches that had to be replaced ( before I permanently rectified the problem ) the only parts, other than your normal, belts, battery tires , etc. that ever needed replaced were the alternater ( at 160,000 and 3 new injectors at, 180,000 to repair a rapidly developed engine miss ). The car also got very good highway fuel mileage for a V8. About 32 MPG on highway. If you find a well maintained Eldo around the 1990's model I think you will be happy with it. Rides great, runs great, and very dependable.
