Is there a coolant problem with that car or are you talking in general? In general,check the reservoir to see if there's sealant residue in it.Some people who have a headgasket problem will dump Barsleak in it and get rid of the car.The other thing to check are all the suspension components to see if the seals are leaking.Factory shocks run about $1,200 a piece to replace.

coolant issues on a northstar (dare I say it) aren't that common. Yes, you read about it online and it has happened, however in the big picture it's not a popular ordeal. I would focus more on the general condition of the car (body & undercarriage) and if it runs well - BUY it.
