Default Sending Unit and Float Rod

Is the sending unit and float rod one part? And, didn't I read in the forum somewhere that you can access the unit through the trunk? Reason I ask is my fuel will never read more than 10 gal. When it gets down below 10 gal, it read correctly. I was told the float rod could be bent. I called Cadillac and asked about the cost of replacement of the sending unit, pretty close to $500. For $500, i'll continue to use it as is. However, I would like for it to read correctly. Also, worried about it going out completely.

Default RE: Sending Unit and Float Rod

Sending unit and rod are generally one part and as a rule if I go into the tank I replace the fuel pump too seeing as how you have it all apart anyway. Then you will be sure to have years of happy motoring. Don't know of any that make it easy to go through the trunk to access pump but there might be some out there. Check on cadillacparts.net they have sending units and pumps.
