I am so done with my 1997 DeVille. Ever since I got it I have had nothing but issues. Now it sits with a dead Alternator. I just don't have the money to keep it up. Does anyone on here have a suggestion of the best place to sell it off. It is over all I great car I just don't have the money to do the upkeep.

 

Looking at KBB, your car - in fair condition and average miles - should be worth around $1200.

You may be able to call a charity in your area who accepts junk cars, if you consider it junk. Their process is they'll tow the car. Then, they take it to auction. You then get a form that you use on your taxes that states how much it went for, and the money goes to the charity. For instance, say it went to the Kidney Foundation. They tow it, auction it, and (for example) sold for $800. You can take that $800 off your taxes as a donation.

You may also look for dealers in your area that will buy it. But, you'll need to buy a remanufactured alternator, so that you can take it to the dealer. They will buy it for trade-in value, which may be $600-$700.

Or, take it to a dealer for a trade-in. As I mentioned before, you may only get $700 for it, but you can upgrade with it. When I bought my 2002 Deville, I went to plenty of dealers before I "settled" on my current one.

Either way, it's your choice.

Yea I went to trade it in and they only wanted to give me $300 for it. I just had another place come and only offer me $300 for it because it needs and Alternator and has paint flaws (which I don't see why that matters if they are going to repaint it anyway) I know the car needs work but to get it on the road all it needs is an alternator and a jump start I know the car is worth AT LEAST $800 but I just don't know where to advertise it anymore to sell it.
