Default Antena wont go down

Hi I am new ,I have a 1997 Deville and except for my antenna not going down it's a great car.I noticed that my antenna motor seems to be working but my antenna wont go down and the whole time I can hear the motor and clicking.Have anyone had that problem before ? I know theres a relay on the unit and if anyone knows whats going on I really need your help. Thanks

Second one this week. You need an new antenna either the gears or nylon cord that pulls it down are broken. You should disconnect power to the antenna. You will gain access by peeling back the trunk liner and presto there it will be.Unplug the connector. I seem to remember that the relay is on the antenna. There are many sources for a new antenna from the dealer to e-bay and you can spend from $175 to $15. It is an easy job to replace it.

It is really a switch, supposed to switch power on and off depending on conditions of antenna mast. When it reaches the top power shuts off, when it reaches full down power switches off. Since your antenna won't come down it is not likely the relay. You hear it run because the position of the antenna is not moving to switch off the power. I seem to remember that there is a small black box on the antenna assembly and that is it.
