Recently acquired an "87 sedan de ville. Still getting used to all the bells and whistles. Was driving on the hwy last night and orange warning light " Service Soon" on left hand side of instrument panel came on. I have no owners manual. This light could refer to any number of things. Oil, water are topped up. Has new air filter. Anyone know what I can check for?

Does this car need premium fuel. I just put regular in it.

Look for an ALDL some where in side the car under dash or by fuse box and jumper terminals A and B together turn on the ignition and count the blinks on the service soon light.
For example 2 slow blinks pause 3 fast blinks = 23 this sequence will repeat its self 3 for each code.

 

[] I have an 88 DeVille. The service soon light is on and the cruse control won't engage. The Cadillac people say that the cruse control disables itself when this light come on. Any advice. David

 

1981 Coup De Ville with a check engine light on and an intermitant engine temp light-sometimes before I've even turned it on/sometimes on hard right turns.
Took it too mechanic-had it four weeks. Still have Check engine light but now the auto locks and power mirror won't work.
Is she gonna quit on me if I keep driving? Can't find anyone here to work on her.
