GM Cadillac 1987 Coupe DeVille - engine cuts out while driving
[:@]
I have a 87 Coupedeville 100,000 miles. Engine intermittently cuts out while driving. Digital readout for speed, avg miles/hr. miles/hr. speed still read but engine will cut out, This just started to happen. Is this something with the computer or should I be looking at the speed sensor? Engine will restart and does not faulter in any way. Any ideas????

I have an "87" Coupe de ville, 100,000 miles. In the las t2 days the engine will cut out while driving and it is only the engine that is cutting out. The dash is still lit up like nothing is wrong. Digital read-out is showing speed, ododmeter is still readingm fuel in tank etc. Engine warning light never comes on. The only way the driver knows what happened is the power steering gets stiff and the gas pedal isn't responding. Car will restart while letting it coast. Engine doesn't sputter, no rough idle, etc. I'm thinking electrical. Where should I begin to look. Ignition switch or computer or ....
Thanks

Check for codes and post E codes. Check grounds near alternator.Check fuel pressure 9-13 psi and holds when engine is turned off for atleast 1 min. Check for spark with tester. If no codes are stored, fuel pressure is ok, and ignition passes spark tester I would suspect ignition module.

I'd like to hear more about this problem, I'm having the same problem with my 2000 Deville. As I'm driving it the engine will just stop, it's happened probably 6 times since I've had it. And sometimes the engine will only lose power for a spit second but then restart and keep on running.
Anybody know what the problem is? Is it something serious?
