4t80e takes off in second gear

Default 4t80e takes off in second gear

i have a 94 seville with 134,000.it takes off in second gear even in manaul low.doesnt seem to slip,all other gears are ok.any ideas where to start?thank you

i would start by pulling codes and testing shift solenoid.

These transmissions are famous for BAD shift sylanoids. There are two that are inside the transmission. if this is the problem you might as well replace both at the same time. I did the job once and it is very messy but can be done without pulling the transmission. You have to pull the valve body and open it up to replace them. Parts were less than a $100.00 but be perpaired to have lots of transmission fluid everywhere.

Codes came back shift selonoid a and shift selonoid b. works fine some of the time, but twhen the services engine light comes on and transmission sticks in 3rd.

ya i had a friend who was doing a trans service job and he accidently cracked a shift soliend, this caused it to start in second gear.
