Hows it goin? New to this, but im thinking about doing an engine swap on my Caddy from a 472 to a newer 454 long block with a 700R transmission. i want some advice on this whether i should do it or will there be problems in the future with this. Also would i have to do some conversions to the engine compartment or shorten the shaft. Please help me out!

Im thinking about doing it because, the engine is old and things keep going wrong with it left and right. i want to get a 454 long block and totally gut it out and redue the whole thing with the parts i want. i want it to have some power and be reliable and also run smooth.

Im sure it would be possible. But if it were me I would redo the 472. That engine is 375 hp stock. With minor mods you could get good power from it yet still run nice. But just an opinion. I have a 70 coupe deville and thats my plan.
