Sorry for the repost did not know where to put it.

Looking for some advice I have a 69 Deville that I’m trying to get together and am having trouble adjusting the engine. I’ve added an edelbrock carburetor and an aftermarket ignition. I thought that my alternator was out so I removed the battery and walla the car idle perfectly smooth, it was amazing then i replaced the plug and bam it idled poorly again. I just don’t get it. The timing is right the carb is set alright and the plugs are getting power??

The plug I'm refering to is the positive battery terminal. I removed the positive battery terminal and it idled perfectly. Upon replacing the terminal it bagan to idle rough again

Sounds like you may have a wiring/electrical problem. That is an odd one thats for sure. Maybe related to your aftermarket ignition. What did you do to the ignition?

With everything plugged in what is voltage at battery? Your car if stock would be between 13.2-14v. What kind of ignition system do you have? From info provided I suggest to look in area of ignition system, including source voltage and ground.
