i have a 94 cadillac eldorado coupe
the stereo quit working so i decided to change it
i put in the new stereo and wired up the constant hot and the switched hot
so the stereo works and the lights comes on and it keeps the time
but i can't figure out how to wire up the speakers
usually just connecting the speakers wires together makes them work
i tested a seperate speaker with a 12v battery and it worked
but when i did it on the cadillac it didn't work
i know the speakers work because the old head unit would play music just not cd's or tapes

anyone know the problem?

Was the original radio a BOSE system? If not then just purchase the wiring pigtail kit that allows you to use the original plug you disconnected from the old radio. That would be the cleanest proper way. If it was a BOSE unit then its more complicated. The old head unit had no amp within it. A stereo shop would need to figure that out.

Radio head in dash was just a display panel, receiver is in trunk. BOSE speakers may not work with your new radio. You will need to run wiring from your radio to speakers.

and they said i need to bypass the amp with a line out converter
just out of curiosity, why does bose sound systems use amps?
