This is in a 1981 Chevrolet C10 pickup. I was told this is a Cadillac engine. Anyone recognize model?

Big block Cadillac for sure, casting and/or stamped numbers/letters will reveal more.

eight digit of the VIN number It should be a 9, a 6, a 4 or an N. Not likely an N as that was the diesel engine.

For Code 6 and 9 engines the identification pad is located at rear of crankcase behind intake manifold. Happy hunting.

So the only numbers I could find are on top of the engine behind the distributer. The numbers are 1609551
Does this help?

When I google 1609551 with Cadillac it looks like others are saying a 425 V8. Sound right to everyone?
