So, I got a 1996 Cadillac DeVille Concoure. It has the 4.6 Northstar and the transmission seems not to want to grab until upper RMP's. I don't quite know what would cause this. I called a tranny place locally and they said it could be a clutch band. Is that something that a somewhat knowlegeble person could do with a book at hand? Are there any special tools needed?
Any help is appreciated.

I believe that replacing clutches means overhaul.

That's what i was figuring, i think i'm just going to be buying a new transmission then. I can get one with 43K miles for 300 plus tax.
