hey yall, ive got an annoying problem on my 94 fleetwood. When ever i make a sharp turn to where the tires are turned as much as they will go, i get a loud clunk or pop noise. It sounds like its coming from my passenger side front tire. Im almost to afraid to look at what it is becuase im thinking ill find bad ball joints. If i jack the car up and turn the tire what do i look for? And what is the CV joint? is that like a ball joint? How differcult do you think it would be to replace? do i have to take the hub off to replace? Oh it also makes the noise when i punch the gas hard with a slight turn. Ive been driving with it like this for a while now, what would happen if it gets really bad? Oh and one more thing, i have 20 inch rims, but the 20 inch rims and tires arent as tall as the regular rims and tires becuase it has low profile. Im pretty sure its not scraping the tires or rims.

First off a CV is a Constant Velocity joint and it is for FWD cars only so not a concern on a big RWD Caddy Fleetwood.

When you turn a wheel to lock it is often not a good thing to hold it and crank it continually so I suspectsomething is hitting the fender well or a bad idler arm bushing as a possibility since you hear the clunk when you punch it. Why not get it on a hoist and have the mechanic check out your front suspension and steering. An Idler arm is not hard to change BUT if it breaks you are in big trouble.
