I own a 2003 Escalade 4wd suv. it currently has about 50,000miles on it. my question is suspension related hopefully I posted in the right section. I use my escalade totow an RV. I used it all of last summer and it worked great. I recently hooked up to the Rv and wanted to just move it across our yard so I didnt bother attaching the torsion bar system (a wieght distribution hitch so there is alot less wieght on the rear axle). I started driving and heard this loud pop and some smoke from the driver side rear tire area. I obviously overloaded my air suspension and wrecked something. it still seems to ride nice but the compressor seems to run alot longer before it cuts out. when I stick my head under the suv I cannot hear any air hissing everything seems normal other than the compressor running alot longer. Now I went and hooked up to my RV again, this time doing itthe proper wayand using the torsion bars so theres alot less weight on the hitch. I started the escalade and the compressor started, ran for a minute or two lifting the shock a little but not as much as it did last year, and I got another loud pop and what seemed like a small amount of smoke again coming from the driver side rear fender area. anybody have any advice? maybe I wrecked the air shocks, or compressor? I'm stuck with no Cadillac dealer for 500 miles and I am supposed to take my family on a vacation this coming friday. If anybody can offer any advice or help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
