In a multi-million dollar study, GM quietly discovered that Dexcool was incompatible with the Nylon 6/6 that they were using in many parts of the engine and cooling system - gaskets, radiators, heater cores, etc. Rather than risk the tax credits they get from the Gov't for long-life coolant, they are quietly changing the plastics rather than the Dexcool. This is how I understand it.

I've made another post about my other problems on 1997 cadillac deville. mostly rants. But, i'd like to add i'm searching for a solution to the cooling problem. Most likely going with a remanufactured engine. Still, looking for all the information for a possible performance rebuild, or upgrade. found a possible coolant. Don't take it to the bank until i can confirm its compatible with nylon 6/6. and safe to use with northstar cooling system. Its called evans npg, its a waterless solution. It promises to have it all like all products. (i wont open them worms yet)

I'm going to list all the upgrades i find since my last post got a little out of hand.

I'll be back with more information..

Thank you for your time

moderators please don't be mad at me for posting in deville and northstar this was a mistake. if its a rule i'm sorry.

Take it easy, don't worry about the mods regarding these postings, ( we look for other things) you obviously have done some research and have some concerns and the final outcome could be helpful to everyone.
