Hey guys, lemme know what you think. My car has always clunked when i put it into revearse. It would rock the whole car. But now its clunks when i put it into drive as well. It also makes an awfull noise with the clunk. It sounds like ...a dog yellping, If that makes any sense. You think this is the engine mounts?

Worn or broken motor and/or transmission mounts very likely cause. High idle speed can also cause clunking in gear.

Clunking like a dog yelping? I need help on that description.

Additionally, to add to slowroll response, also check the mounts of the various exhaust system
components which often rust / crack and let go and ... one more .. exhaust manifolds being tight after
xx number of years.

ya the transmission is slipping pretty bad, im waiting after some up coming court fees to get it fixed. When they rebuild the tranny will they put new tranny mounts on or will that be something extra? and ya it sounds like something that needs some grease to it ... kind of dry.. like a umph noise.

Ceck the u-joints too. My old Regal clunked when I went into reverse and that ended up being the problem.
