I have a 2001 Deville with 23,400 miles. It has an annoying rattle in the front suspension on the drivers side. The rattle only seems to occur at slow speeds 23-25 mph while going over small imperfections in the road such as expansion cracks. I had a 2002 Bonneville that was doing the same thing but I turned it in when the lease expired before having it resolved. The rattle makes the front end feel loose. I'm about to take it to the dealer but thought I would ask any of you out there if you have experienced the same problem. Thanks for any feedback.

Front stabilizer link(s) or intermediate steering shaft likely causes.

The intermediate steering shaft was my problem. Shaft was replaced.

Thanks for posting the results. That is just as important as posting the problem.

94-99 devilles have concerns with rod ends on stabilizer links developing play and causing rattle going over small bumps or irregularities in road. 2000-05 deville (along with many other gm models) tend to have concerns with intermediate steering shafts.

can the intermediate shaft on the 95 deville make noise, cuz the car i was given has been doing it for years the tirods are all pretty tight and the car rides straight as hell, if it was the tie rods one of em woulda broke by now id think

Its not the tie rod end it's the stabilizer link. Its a metal rod that connects front sway bar to the strut. The metal bar has little ball joints that wear out and make noise.

my sway bar links are the old style, they are the bolt through design tha goes through the sway bar and into the control arm, they didnt look broken...

Never saw that type of stabilizer link on a 95. Never the less when do you hear noise and what does it sound like? Be as desciptive as you can. Where does noise seem loudest from?

guess i have an oddball then, but ihve had it on a lift, thats what i got, i hear it going over small and large imperfections in the road, and i hear it sitting at a stop while turning the wheel left and right, its like a metal on metal clunk, and while going around soft leftward bounds at highway speeds, i hear s consistant clunk clunk clunk clunk, like something is wabbling in the front, the sound existed prior to the new bearings and balljoints, and now i have new bearings and balljoints (moog) and i still hear it.

things to check: steering gear mounting bolts to frame. lower control arm bushings especially front ones. sub frame mounts and bolts. Any repairs prior to noise? With car on lift using rubber mallet can you strike tire and duplicate noise?

do you have an idea of what these parts cost or where i might find them because mycar has that rattle in the front end but it has not caused any play in it. I will obviouslyhave to get it fixed but it is more of an annoyance at this point than anything else because the steering is still very tight.

My car has this same rattle but it is more of an annoyance at this point because it doesnt seem to be affecting the handling because the steering is still tight. Do you know how much these parts might cost or where i may be able to find them because i can get some help getting them put on.
