View Full Version : The age of Cadillac Owners in our forums!
VetteViperGuy 01-06-2006, 05:45 PM Okay, when I first bought my Escalade, a few days later, I realized I had a Cadillac. Now, its easy to say, "duh", but the realization is that I have ventured into a realm of cars normally purchased by the 60+ age group.
SO, how old are you guys that own these "Cadillacs"??
Ill start off: Im an old 35.

BackNBlack 01-12-2006, 01:34 AM Thirty-two ripe years here. I bet you hang out on the Corvette Forum a lot. It has a lot more traffic than this forum...I'm know as TorchRedXCVI over there.

Patrick 01-26-2006, 02:40 PM i dont have a vette anymore, but im 27.
VetteViperGuy 01-26-2006, 08:45 PM You're fairly young to own a Caddy...it's weird, isn't it??
mattlikespeoples 01-27-2006, 06:21 PM fairly young? well, partick has got 6 years on me. i'm only 21 and i owned a town car before me 98 deville:D
iowavette 02-10-2006, 05:51 PM I've been driving Corvettes and Cadillacs since I was 18. Unfortunately, I'm now 52. It hasn't slowed me down, however. With the greatest of respect to any member Iowa State Troopers, made it to Sioux City in my '99 Corvette Coupe in 1' 10", a distance of 105 miles from the house. There's a lot to be said for the flyover states folks. Current flotilla includes:
'04 SRX V8 AWD
'03 Chevy Avalanche
'03 Chevy Corvette Z06
My husband has an '01 Chevy Silverado. His first loves are his Victory motorcycle and John Deere garden tractor.
VetteViperGuy 02-13-2006, 12:50 PM Well, welcome to the Caddy - Vette club...There are a few of us on this forum!

VetteViperGuy 04-18-2006, 12:43 PM ZR1: That's cool...you've almost got the same cars I have. I have the 05 EXT and an 01 Z06. Let's see some pics!
VetteViperGuy 04-18-2006, 12:45 PM I can't upload 2 pics at a time here...so here's the ext
Here are some pics of the ZR-1, no pictures of the EXT yet, but it's stock except for the grill, so no big deal.

I've never ridden in a TT Z06, but I'm sure I would love it. I was on the bubble to buy a 2002 Z06 when I decided to go after the ZR-1 I had wanted for so long. No doubt the Z06 is a better handling car. Love that yellow!!
VetteViperGuy 04-20-2006, 12:47 PM Cool ZR1. The engine stands out. I've never seen the LPE body kit. Now, I'm sure you've been razed for having the body kit, and not sticking to the factory body kit (especially when people start talking about restoration and OEM value), but I always say that the car has to please you first, and who cares what the others think?
iowavette 05-02-2006, 09:45 PM What is it with the Corvette/Cadillac connection? No wonder the CTS-V is such a profound vehicle.
Yes, I do have a few more toys than my better half. Until last year, I also had a '99 Ducati 900 Monster, same color as my Z06. But, that was to compliment his Victory on the poker runs. Problem is, everything one wants to do, ride bicycles, motorcycles, golf, garden, needs to occur in the morning for optimal enjoyment. As the day progresses, so does the heat and breeze. Someone made an offer we couldn't refuse and away it went. Ironically, a few days later, there it is at the motorcycle store associated with the local Chevy dealer. We warned him the Ducati was a handful. He traded it on a ricegrinder, the sissy.
iowavette 05-02-2006, 09:46 PM Oh, and may I just say, "Dang, a Lingenfelter."
VetteViperGuy 05-03-2006, 12:40 PM How funny your story is Iowavette. I had no idea it got that hot there.
Don Vito 07-15-2006, 01:36 PM Me-46 going on 32. My wife thinks I act much less!
My car-1990 Fleetwood Brougham. Always wanted the big one, had a Fleetwood fwd. Not the same-Brougham is the only one that deserves the Fleetwood name!;)
mjdart 07-25-2006, 05:10 PM I'm 51, second Caddy I've owned the first one I was 22 years old. And like others I've owned a few Corvettes in between.

Cadillac Man 09-29-2006, 09:20 PM Yah I'm Nineteen and selling cadillac's and yes it used to be for the old now the younger generation loves these great vehical and so do i my average customer is in the thirties. Don't worrie you love the vehical and thier ain't nothing like it in it's class.
dentshop 10-07-2006, 03:05 PM I find a lot of older people to be Cadillac fans.
Saying the average age falls in between 30 and 55 would be...
30+55=85
2/85 = 42.5
Around 42-43 years old average age (not the most frequent but the middle number)
ST/S/EPHANE 10-11-2006, 08:07 PM I'M 44 BUT FEELS LIKE 16.
JUST BOUGHT A '01 SEVILLE STS. I WANTED SOMETHING BIG AND MY WIFE WANTED SOMETHING CLASSY, EVERYONE IS HAPPY NOW.
jaxjax 11-02-2006, 07:14 PM 26- bought a year ago when I was 25...yea, it gets brought up a lot that I may be driving a Grandma car. It's just a classy car, hands down. Oh, and the whole Corvette thing... my husband bought his second vette, a 2003 Z06, blew the engine racing, built a custom engine for $$$$- so I got the Caddy. Everyone is happy!!!:D
brougham1 11-02-2006, 07:54 PM Ha Ha I'M 17 I win. 17 + 39 so that makes 56 I guess, maybe I don't win after all. Hope all you caddy owners are enjoying your rides. This is my first Caddy and I've had it four or five months. Has been a real challenge working on it and making everything right. 1981 Brougham D'Elegance.
Mattmont 11-07-2006, 01:48 AM I dont think there is an age on cadillac now. I know before Cadillac was a car for your grandpa, but that is just because of the saying "the older you get the wiser you get." I am 22 and June 24th became the best day of my life when I got my 06 Cadillac CTS which I consider my dream car. I haven't taken any new pictures since I got my windows tinted but I think I uploaded a picture on this post. This is my first post so hopefully it works.

PimpDeville 01-01-2007, 11:05 PM I had a 91' Deville about 5 yrs ago, then jumped to an 03' Escalade Ext , and recently just purchased a 2001 White Cadillac Deville. I'm 28 yrs old. Their is nothing like the ride of a Cadillac, plus the ladies enjoy it as well..
jetstar63 01-02-2007, 10:08 PM I was 46 years old when I got our 1989 DeVille. Late in 2007, we will be looking for an SRX. My wife and I still havetwoyoung children andaGolden Retriever, that's why I want a Cadillac station wagon.
Katzmans Caddy 02-15-2007, 02:24 AM I am 49, always loved Cadillacs and driving in them. My uncle had two I remember well, 54 and 67 Coupe Devilles. My son is 17 and he would own a CTS or an EXT in a second, probably will one day too. I think that age thing is changed nowadays with the high perfomance Northstars and HiPo small block models plus changing demographics on income levels make these high dollar cars attainable to sucessful drivers of all ages. Was a time that Cadillacs were considered an older person's car but I think that has changed or is changing.

Oldman Cadillac 05-03-2008, 06:27 AM I just turned 26 and I'm on my third Cadillac. I bought an '84 Eldo (pretty baby blue) when I was 19. Next I got a '98 Deville. And just got ahold of a '00 Deville this year. Nobody (except other owners) understandswhy a younger guy would own such a big car. Once you drive one you can't go back. And why am I always chauffering everyone around?;)
stokes06dts 05-04-2008, 09:47 PM I'm 27 with my first caddy at the age of 22.

Yet, the other groups are pretty even ...
well, lets see here it seems like most of are older than 21, but i own a caddy and well lets face it im only 18. I know most of you are going to say what is a litle kid doing with a caddy i know but its life, and well i dont know what to say but you can go ahead and speek your minde.
SPreston2001 09-27-2008, 02:29 AM Im 25 long and strong years old, and this is my 2nd Cadillac. Had a 94 Deville two years ago at the age of 23. I love em!!
Cadillac Jack 09-28-2008, 10:32 PM 61 and going strong!! Traded my Land Rover for my DTS. Decided I'm getting too old for Safaris, but can still cruise the boulivard!!
rocknroll cliche 10-13-2008, 05:55 PM 24 here. Picked up my first cadillac last year, an 85 Eldorado. One day Iplan to drive my grandkids around in it.
Ray Steen 10-19-2008, 11:53 PM The only record I might make is the oldest, am 71. My first Cadillac was at age 19 and it was a 1950 model 62. Wow what a car. Had many since and probably think the 1953 model was one of the best....AC and power steering. Will anyone believe 21/mpg on the highway back then and gasoline was 19 cents a gallon. I am on the eleventh Cadillac now, a 2005 DeVille. It has been my experience that my Cadillacs have been the most inexpensive automibles to drive, all considered.....fuel economy, resale and maintence. There have been a few other GM produces, mostly Pontiacs, a couple of Oldsmobiles and my last, a Park Ave Buick. One 1975 Chevrolet Caprice was the most expensive car I ever owned. Just my introduction and two cents worth, but with inflation on the way, may be worth tomorrows dollar.

wornslick 10-21-2008, 02:54 PM 54 years old here. Just boughtour 2nd Cadillac yesterday.A 06 DTS, before that we had a 01 DeVille.
Mercedez L. 11-01-2008, 03:52 AM I know that the CTS was designed because CAdillac wanted to market a car young people would buy. The XLR too is also a sporty car and convertible probably a type of car seniors wouldn't want being a 2 seater.
Tarrance 11-03-2008, 01:20 AM The median age of the new Caddy driver is between 50-60 years of age, always has been. Surprisingly, you would be shocked how many seniors have the XLR. Not to mention the cost $60K +. I'm only 33 but if I could buy a brand new Caddy, it would be the DTS.
nstalker94 11-29-2008, 08:33 PM I'm 31 and I guess I'm the odd ball. I just aquired a mint condition 96' Fleetwood from my father. The car is probably one of the best cars I have ever owned. And by odd ball I mean all the posts I read everyone owns all GM products. We'll not me.

jreynolds_1983_WOOT 02-06-2009, 12:58 AM I'm 25 turning 26 Feb. 28, 2009. I have a 1985 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. My first car was a beautiful 1977 Fleetwood Brougham. I love the body styles of the older Cadillacs. The one newer Cadi. I WANT to get is a CTS... Mmmm CTS. :) I Like the CTS because it has the "blocky" yet modern look... and lovely tail lights... again, old school yet new school.
CaddyOwner22 02-06-2009, 03:27 PM My wife and I just bought our first Cadillac and paid cash for it. We are the proud owners of a 1996 Cadillac Seville STS and we are both 22 years old. Since this is our first cadillac and we are fairly young, you can imagine how proud we are of this accomplishment!! In case anybody knows anything, we are looking for easy interior restoration. The inside is in nice condition, but obviously not brand new...we want it to be the best it can be.
At 55 (me) and 54 (her)! Picked up a couple of Excellent 05' CTS's with low mileage, BTB warranties, in Immaculate Conditions and super pre-owned deals!!! Mine's the loaded CTS Lux\Sport package with gold trim features and her's, the Lux CTS with silver trim features (both 3.6L WD)! See my review HERE (http://www.epinions.com/review/2005_Cadillac_CTS/content_458122759812) ! :)
Paid cash for these babies (youngest of 4 finished collage, payed off "2" weddings and the "30" year mortgage in 2008)!!
We do love our rides and Yes, we Do count our Blessings!

DustinSTS 03-05-2009, 10:31 AM 27 Years old, bought my 2006 STS V8 fully loaded last July, was 26 then. Great deal, low miles (22000) and still covered under original factory warranty until April 2010! Love it!

HOLLY MOSES !
THAT is one heck of a review .. It would take me two days to write that.
I gather, you and her are one happy couple with a nice matched set of wheels!

CTS V Mark 03-10-2009, 11:08 PM 53 going on 30. I could have bought a Vette but didn't. I didn't want people thinking there's another old man going through a mid life crisis. Little do they know there is a Corvette under the hood of my CTS V. :D
Breezy717 03-11-2009, 07:05 PM Im 22, drive an 09 CTS. I love my car. Beautiful black color. All wheel drive and enough power to keep me happy. My sister also drives one, My mother drives an Escalade pick up and my Step Fater drives a regular body Escalade. My sisters 26, moms 41 and step father is 55.
Cadillac on 22s 03-26-2009, 09:10 PM Im 26 and im on my third caddy 79 coupe deville, 83 coupe that ht 4100 was the worst invention ever and now a 93 fleetwood.
cady97dev 03-27-2009, 09:32 AM I am 27 and have had my 1997 caddy Deville for almost 3years. I get grief from my wife everyday that I am driving an OLD MANS CAR!!! But i love the ride and comfort my caddy gives me. Also a very BIG Mustang Fan so I confuse many people with the huge difference in rides.
HOLLY MOSES !

CTS V Mark 04-03-2009, 09:13 PM I'm 53 going on 25. I don't own a Vette but one of my retired buddies has C 6 and another buddy races his C 5 at Thunder Hill from time to time. I love my "V". I'm also amazed how many young people have Cadillacs.

I feel my 05' CTS Sport is very smooth and pulls great, for a 3.6 V6! Then I went Monday and did a test drive on a new 09' CTS-V.....WOW,:eek:WOW:eek:, WOW:D!
Now, THAT is what I Call a MUSCLE Car in Sheep's Clothing, AMAZING! Certainly made Me feel "25" again...;)

railshot 04-18-2009, 10:48 PM 56 going on 21 here, the last Cadillac I drove was a '63 my mother had when I was 16. I just recieved a '97 Deville and forgot how great they were! It has been 26 years since I had a V8, and all I can say is wow.
I just sold my '95 Mitsu 3000GT, and I will tell you this, my Deville would keep up with it without much problem.
I am sold again.
madmatthew88 04-18-2009, 11:59 PM I'm 21 just bought my first cadillac though its a 93 sedan deville 78k miles needs some body work but for $650 runs and drives great god i love it .
ActionJackson4205 04-22-2009, 12:50 PM I am 25 and have had an 88 Seville, 83 Fleetwood Brougham, 85 Fleetwood Brougham, and currently have a 97 Deville, 97 Seville, and 70 Coupe Deville. I love my Caddy's! Have done the northstar headgaskets and case halves on both 97's myself. That was a fun project.
I'm 25 and have had my cadillac since i was 21, and i tend to stick with the cadi's and the camaros. cant afford them vette's yet. i intend to pick up a 2010 camaro here in the next 6mo. no intentions of getting rid of my cadi.
1996eldawg1 06-23-2009, 01:09 PM I am 32 years old and my previous car was a 1996 deville, pearl red. I sold that car back in the winter and I have regretted it ever since. I just bought a 96 eldorado ETC pearl white, which needs minor work.
I always got teased by my wife and family for driving an "OLD MAN'S CAR" but it's was amusing that when it was time to go out of town on a long trip, everybody always demanded that we ride in the Cadillac! LOL! Even though every one else in my family has a newer foreign car they would prefer to ride in the "OLD MAN" comfortable Caddy.
CadZZilla 06-23-2009, 02:11 PM 43 here
wildstylegrafix 06-23-2009, 04:50 PM 34 Here I have been driving my 2000 DTS for a few years now.
I am absolutely in love with mine and will never drive anything but a Caddy from here on out.
I think my next one is going to be a CTS.
jfh -- 67 Caddy Coupe DeVille 06-23-2009, 04:54 PM Well, I should probably jump in and introduce myself. I am new to the forum, just turned 50, and just bought my first Caddy. Nope not a new one a 200.00 67 Coupe Deville with 72,000 miles. I has not ran since 1975. Sold off a 70 chevy truck resto-rod project to fund the project. We'll see how she runs before to many plans are made.
1996eldawg1 06-24-2009, 02:57 PM I love the 1967 & 1968 Coupe deville can you post pictures during the restoration, kind of like a progress report?
I'm interested in restoring one of these and I would like to see the methods used to restore one. There are plenty of books on muscle car restoration but almost none on Cadillac restoration.
jfh -- 67 Caddy Coupe DeVille 06-25-2009, 01:20 PM Hey thanks for the reply. I'm new to groups and posting, but will try to provide some progress info. It has to pass the start/run test before going forward. I am also in the middle of putting my first car back on the road and don't want to impact my gearhead piggy bank with another big project. As far as restoration goes, I am not a purest. I am thinking along the lines of dark red metal flake, ghost flames, shaved door handles, dual exhaust as a start. Air bags later perhaps.
BrianC 08-06-2009, 02:31 AM I'm 52 years of age. Note I didn't say 52 years "old". Google "Old Man Army", and you'll understand. I'm a member. :-)
DavyDeville91 08-10-2009, 07:51 AM Well my brother is technically the first owner of our 1991 DeVille (he's 44) and when I saw him pull up in the Caddy, I said immediately'You think you're a pimp now?"lol-----but now I'm the owner and I'm a pretty fit 40:p

Don't You think that I am not so old for a Caddy :)
Stealth 08-26-2009, 05:37 PM Hello, I'm writing from Poland and I am 29 years old.
Don't You think that I am not so old for a Caddy :)
I say that if you can afford a late model Caddy in Poland at 29, you are doing darn good.
in fact, according to this poll thread, you are a young one !
Congratulations!

Thanks
Now, I have to look at mine...
crzycora 12-02-2009, 10:52 AM 51 and driving my first Cadillac! Love it. However, my fun car is a fully restored 1970 Chevelle SS. When I open the garage doors, people don't know which car to look first the Caddy or the Chevelle.
Crzycora
CTS V Mark 12-07-2009, 12:15 AM Crazycora,
It would be a difficult choice as to which car to look at first. I have a buddy with the same problem. He has a CTS, 65 Chevelle SS and a 70 Chevelle SS 454. I got rid of a 68 Mustang Fastback and a 2003 Mach1 so I could buy my CTS V. No regets. A far more enjoyable car to drive.
Also I can't believe how many young peole drive Caddys these days. In my youth only really old people drove Cadillacs.:D
