this is pretty much the method i have used for several years
for several vehicles .. not counting dent removal, this is a weekend job ..
before that, i had used laquer but it become near impossible to obtain
and control, at least in the west coast .. the paint guns have sat and collected
dust for years.

there are limitations, but the results are good enough that no one will know unless you
tell them.

Got to tell you that I brought the old 82 Chevy truck to Maaco in 1995 and got an excellent two tone paint job for less than $500. After parking the truck in a carport for the next eleven years it started showing a little wear. Got some quotes from local guys. None less than a thousand and Maaco is fifty miles away so went too local marine store and purchased several quarts of the polyureathane paint I've been putting on the "Beetlecat" and sprayed the beast all one color. No sign of wear as yet. Would love to have used Maaco however. It's a dirty, time consuming job.

i lost the joy of using paint spray guns long ago.

you must try the roller method. you may just like it.
not that messy except for the ground when one does the
wet sanding. and that one can rinse off

you may remember, i also did on the Allante interior- tan/brown.
i avoided the spray method everyone was using *** MESSY *** for
the interior surfaces, using a sponge brush instead.
nothing less than awesome results there.
i'm no longer the only one that has done the Allante interior with
the sponge brush.

at any case, the Hot Rod mag has simply do***ented and repeated
what many of us have been doing for many years. they sort of made it official.
lastly, i do use an "air brush" , same paint outlined in the article
and the reason i do use an airbrush is that i can shoot paint into areas that i cannot
reach by any other method.
