Noticed in the FAQ section that most Caddy owners don't put these vehicles through their paces.  I'd like to know why not?  Is it because we're fundamentally law abiding, tax paying citizens?  Do we live in areas where the opportunities are limited due to congestion?  Or, do we just not feel the need to speed?

Frankly, and with all respect to law enforcement, you don't know what you're missing.

Well, I make opportunities to run WOT in my vette and 93 allante.  IMO that's the way they were made to be driven.   Actually, WOT can be done by almost staying within the law if done properly.  Running wide open for a few mile takes
some stealthiness and focus and no other cars around.  I have a few favorite places for this.

So I'm with you, not missin a thing.

Happy motoring.

yeahhhhh .. for sure ....
easier done on the BLACK Allanté than on the "Arrest me RED" Stang Beast ...

nevertheless ... what he says .

Okay, that's three of us; four counting one of my buds at work.  He has a 2001 ETC.   I hear you on the 'stang.  My Z06 is red also, although I refer to it as 'mid-life crisis' red versus Chevy's 'Torch.'

I'm on a small acreage out in the sticks.  Up until recently, I had a "race track" where the Cad could be blown out and the rev limiter exercised in the Z06.  It's about 3/4 of a mile coming down a slight hill and curve that allows a view forever on a wonderful two-lane state highway.  Omaha's starting to crowd us now so  opportunities are becoming sparse.  I discovered in my '97 ETC a few years back that the local sheriffs are not bashful about writing tickets.  But, at least they take one's word for the perceived velocity.

A Ford dealer built a remarkably elaborate racing multiplex drag strip and 2.2 mile road course only a few miles south.  They give racing lessons there and believe I'll take advantage of it this summer.

I'm off to the salon and hopefully a run through the gears.  Try to behave yourselves.

Off topic, Gary, can't believe you have a Franklin.  I thought Bill Harrah cornered the market on those back in the '70s.  Don't know what became of them after he died.  Heard the collection was broken up with only a small subset left in Reno.

I met him at his collection one weekend but didn't know it was him until later.  I complained about all the Ferrari's and the ONE Corvette.  He was sympathetic.  Read later he was the West Coast Ferrari distributor at the time.  Oh.

Yeap it's a 31 frankllin I bought at an auction in Miami in early 80's.  Great driver, and will never overheat. Back then I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of 30k.  It's in my garage in Pa.  Next time up there I'll try to remember the digital caamera and post some pics.  Or mabey I can scan a photo and post.  I'll get stealth to help me out with that.  Thanks for noticing, most don't know or ever heard of the car.

My wife told me "No track days with the SRX."

Let your wife drive.  I drove the '97 ETC at my Corvette Club's low-speed autocross events.  That was fun and the car was amazing.  They set up in a high school parking lot on a hot summer day.  The blacktop was slick from the heat so the Eldo's tires absolutely smoked and squalled until the midway point and my better half and I had to jump out and trade places.  As with honking the horn, he has a hard time mashing the accelerator.

You know the SRX would be a kick to drive on a road course.  I'm still tentative about that AWD, however.  Wouldn't want to stress it more than the usual daily commuter thrashings.

Gary, hurry up with the Franklin photos.  Can't remember the last time I saw one but suspect no more recent than San Francisco in the '80s.
