I'll double check, but i really don't think this is correct. this is the first angle I went  to use use and it appeared to be way off, they looked like they where in the 30+ degree range, I'll get back to you today, Thanks

If your positive thats what it is though, than let me know, they might just be that worn. Usually the valve would be at 46 and the seat at 45, but usually engines arent sideways, head bolts don't strip out no matter what and starters arent under intakes .
Thanks though

Those are the valve angles. Typically machine shops will change the angles to 45 degrees on the seat and 44 on the valve face. what you dont want is the same angle on both. The different angles cause an interference fit the allows for better sealing and longer service. The reason machice shops alter angles is they like to keep there valve seat equipment at the standards 15,30,45,& 60. Their valve refacing machine can more accurately make the +/- 1 angle.

Alright thanks, when i put the valves in the valve grinder at 45 degrees it looked off until it was adjusted into the mid-30s, thats the only reason I questioned it. I guess I'll do 45 on the seat and 44 on the valve because like you said, those are all the angles I have for the seats besides some others for diesels.
