I have a 2006 STS V-6 with 18 inch wheels and Michelin tires. To drive to the mountains of Northern California, I would need to put chains on. Is there a chain or snow belt or snow tire solution for this wheel tire combo? My last car was a 3 Series BMW with 18 inch wheels and I was told that no chains or snow belts would fit without grinding against the wheel well.

I would think the plastic snow chains would work ok.

You will need winter wheels and tires. I suggest contacting Cadillac dealer, in area where tire chain usage is common, for wheel and tire combination. Possibly member in Colorado will know. Other choice is winter Escalade and let the STS hibernate in a garage.

I agree with slowroll. Going to dealers where tire chains are common have greater chance of knowing exactly what you need and giving the right tire chains for you.
