I have a 1999 Cadillac Sts Seville
Recently i started having problems in which the car would not start.I can still hear the cranking and when i acually turned it on with much difficulty but it sounded like a tractor. I checked the battery and it's still good. Yesterday i started up by quickly removing the positive screw and screwed it back and quickly turned the ignition which turned the car on. I drove about 10 miles later and upon entering my driveway again i turned off my car and tried to turn it on. I have a feeling that the Anti-theft system is messed up or there is a short somewhere. Can you guys give me any clue to what is happening or should i bring it in for sevice at my local dealer?

My wife has a '99 STS.  She had that problem once.  But I believe if it's a security system problem it won't even turn the starter.  I could be wrong about that though.

The keys have some kind of transmitter in them that is good for about 10 years, I read somewhere.  We went to a locksmith that could program the car to accept the new keys.  We got two new keys for $40 each, I believe.  Haven't had the problem since.  If you want your keys to say Cadillac on 'em, you may have to go to the dealer.

Got another remote on ebay too.  Need a Tech II tool to program that, cost $38 at the dealer.

Sounds like battery or starter, how did you test battery?
