Something is loose

I just jacked the car up again.  When I rotate the left front wheel back and forth, it makes a funy kind of noise as  if it's
catching on something.  When I do that and touch the upper control arm, I feel it moving.  The right side doesn't do it and appears to be ok.  Have I found something? The wheel feels ok when I try to check for any play.  It's only when I rotate the wheel back and forth.  I don't want sound like an idiot when I go to the dealer.
