on a 93 seville sts. with 195k miles on it. im running average 220 F... when car is at stoplight idling then it kicks up to 225 F, thats is the maximum ive seen it get....im afraid to let it go higher than that, since the block and head is aluminum. What is the original running temp? and am i running hot or fine?

thank you

It's a little high rolling, make sure radiator is clear and all baffles are in place. Cooling fans won't come on till over 226 degrees, so how hot will get a idle. Stop if temp goes over 240 or fans don't come on by 230.

yes,  heater hose or pipe(s) that attach to rear head and run pretty much its lenght they tend to rust out over time. They are also a pain to replace

i have a 98 d'elegance. mine was running hot and it was the famous blown head head gasket, have to pull the motor. 220 and 225 isnt bad but it shouldnt really be running that hot. Usually northstar systems run 195 to 208. Mine wouldnt get over 210 unless i drove up hill for a while or got on the interstate. Then it would shoot up to real high, a couple times it overheated. The thing is dont let is get too hot or your gonna be pulling the engine and inserting timeserts. Dont just start replacing everything before the head gaskets cause that alone with leave you broke to find out the real problem and find someone that is a really good mechanic and familiar with them
