Car: Cadillac Seville STS 1992 4.9L
Problem: When the Fuelgauge reaches the one quarter line, it stopps there and doesn't go any further. At this point there are still 6 gallons (22 liter) in the tank. when the fuel runs out, no warning appears, as it should. I know that an earlier owner had to replace the fuel pump.
I tried to remove the rear seats, because I guess the pump is under it, but i couldn't.
thanks for the help

Probably just a problem with the sender unit. You could use your trip odometer to guage your fuel usage, or get at the pump/sender.

couldn't that sender be had, by going at it in the front part of trunk floor? if there is a 4,5 inch enclosed hole there. open that and see whats up..... imo,

You will have to pull tank to get to it, access plates did not come until 1998 redesign . Make sure tank is still flat or bowed down in center. Sometimes they will be bowed up and gas will in it,but away from pick up. When this happens gas gauge wont read empty, but you will be out of gas.

FYI.... At a quarter of a tank on the instrument gauge, The tank would need to be severly dented...Not likely or else very noticable. I suspect, if the Pump was serviced, you'll have to get inside it, to find the answer. BEFORE doing so, you can unplug the wire harness, may have to lower tank, and apply a variable resistance to the open leads on the unplugged harness from 0-90 ohms, and check the instrument gauge functionality. If you get Full to Empty on the instrument gauge, then you know the Fuel Level Sensor either has a Bent Float Arm or wiper fingers could be damaged from previous owner.
