Hi All,
My son and I are coming to Pomona swapmeet in October and would appreciate any tips on how it all works. We''re in the UK. The tax extortion capital of the whole wide world.
We are hoping to pick up a Caddy or something interesting. ( maybe a rod or truck).
Also keen to know other places to visit. Is Pomona the best place to look?? I guess anywhere is going to be an eye opener compared to our feeble shows. Not too many American cars come out to play. Check out our gasoline prices!!! It hurts me to even start my Cad!! £6.00 a gallon!!
Are we gonna struggle for a hotel in the area on the night before?
Please advise. Thanks, Kev.

One of the most enjoyable car events I can think of, that happens a few times a year for very little cost. Any Year Corvette
Any Year Porsche
Pre 1975 Volkswagans
Pre 1957 Street Rods
Pre 1975 Collector Cars

Hi Stomper,
Yep, that''s the one.
Never been before.
Just wanted to know of anything to watch out for.I''ve been told it''s expensive and to insult the sellers with low bids. Is this the way to go or am I going to get my butt kicked??
Also, how am I sposed to get anything I''ve bought from the show to the dock with regards to insurance??

expensive? hey, it is a swap meet not a Mall in Dublin.
swap meets take what the market can bear,
many go there to dump cars that are just taking space, but
those go fast, sometimes being sold and bought as they drive in.
haggle is expected. there is no butt kicking there.
worse scenario is silent treatment.
now, if someone thinks that you made a pass at their girl, butt kicking dont even come close.
transportation .. if it was me, i would get a flatbed to take it to the dock.
or maybe ask the seller to deliver the car to the dock. pay him/her a bit more for it.
get there early, really early with a big breakfast .. dont stop to browse or you wont get through all the displays .. its bigger than big.
ohh .. expect around 100F weather ..

Arrival Time & Directions
What Time Should I Get There? Gate 15 will be open around the clock starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday for car exhibitors'' and parts seller’s set up; you may stage your show vehicle any time after 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. However, most cars for show and sale arrive Sunday morning EARLY between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. It is STRONGLY recommended to arrive before 5 a.m. Sunday.
