plug coming from engine

i was changing out my grille and i found a wire running from my engine. the wire can be plugged into a home outlet, what is this for? 94 sls

Hey lamarmc: could you possibly be talking about your engine block heater cord. Not many people use them any more as the winters aren't that cold. Hope that helps....
