Hi every one and thanks in advance for your replies. I have a 95 sls with the northstar motor . I just purchased it. it has no oil pressure. I planned on putting new oil pump but before i go thru all that trouble is there anything else i should look at first

Have you verified no oil pressure with a guage??
If so, check to make sure the front crank bolt is tight.
After that the oil pump is the next easiest place to go, although i have seen debris in the pick up cause the light to come on.
The oil pan is a PITA to get off.

No I have not but the rockers are fairly dry. and there is some engine noise. also oil in it is like it just came out of the bottle so i don't believe its circulating thru motor ill check front crank bolt but i have a feeling it wont be that easy thanks for your reply any tips on oil pan removal

"By the book" GM shows the oil pan r&r procedure with the engine removed from the vehical.
It is easier to pull the tranny if you have the proper equipment.
I do not consider an oil pan removal on a northstar a do-it-yourself type job.
With that said, the oil pump is fairly easy to replace.
Pull the crank pulley off (it's on there good)
Remove the tensioner and idler pulleys.
Move the a/c compressor out of the way.
Remove the timing cover.
Now you're looking at the pump.
3 13mm bolts secure it to the engine.
