NEED HELP! Engine messed

So we buy a Eldorado on Sunday then find out it has a knocking noise :( later on While we are driving the readout in the speedo says OIL PRESSURE LOST STOP ENGINE

Any know reasons that might cause the knocking and the lack of oil pressure?

Bad oil pump will cause low oil pressure, I would have bottom end check before condeming engine.
