Ok my friend has a problem with his 94 Cadillac Seville, when he speeds up to 40-50 mph the car does not go any faster, if he keeps on acceletaring the car over heats, can the tranny be damage?

Usually a broken shift solenoid. Can be fixed with the tranny still in the car.
