Okay, the baseball thread is still alive through the last pitch of the world series.
Time to start the ncaa football thread.
First of all Go CANES after crushing the almighty Marshall. Ohio State bearly got by the girls team from Youngstown, and Florida rolled over the brownies from Western something or other. Michigan's season appears to be over already, they were over rated of course. Have at it.

BTW, the Irish(?) lost to an under rated team IMO, but of course the Irish were over rated to begin with.

Gary, you got your facts mixed up. The Irish started the season rated at 111th. This may be "Navys'" year.
I usually wait for some players on the "Canes," or Miami to get thrown in jail thus ruinning the season. However??

Like I said the Irish were over rated. Who had then as high as 111th? Navy has been a good team for a few years now, and also knockin the crap out of Army. They have a tough game this week and are 15 1/2 pt underdogs.
Canes thrown in jail? All the liberty city guys from Miami are now playing for W. Va., Rutgers, Florida, FSU, La tech and Ohio state wish they had some. THE "U" plays Oklahoma this week, I only hope they can keep it respectable.

Where you at Jim?
We all know what G.A.R.Y.'s team did LAST year, but this is a new year now!

Jim just remember the gators are NOT my team, it was just an easy wager, and could be another easy wager this year. Any takers?
Now for my team.
Just took out #20 Tex ass A&M 30,000 to nothing. Too bad for the slow start this year and the bad game against Oklahoma. The "U" now has it's quaterback situation straight and should do fairly well for the rest of the year. The new coach is already lining up highschool kids from Broward and Dade counties.
Two years the "U" should be back in line for another Championship.
BTW the "U" has more players on NFL rosters this year then any other school in the country. Just takes a little time to rebuild.

Ohio state 4th, Gators drop to 9th and the "U" moves up to 27th, almost cracking the top 25. There could still be a rematch between the gators and Ohio state this year but it won't be for the championship.

Thanks Zin, I forgot. Thanks to Boston the ACC is finally represented in the top 10.

First time since Doug Flutie was on the team. (They just might be "ripe" when they get to South Bend!)

That was the year that kid from Y-town was there right? Ummm Kozar!
This could also be in the test for lost IQ! G.A.R.Y. I actually rooted for Florida against LSU, OOOOhhh the pain.

The "U" has more players on NFL rosters this year then ANY other college team in the Country, That's why they are always rebuilding, very tough. And a very tough loss to NC.
Bill was hoping for the Gators to beat LSU for one reason and one reason only. But you did get a huge win by Stanford that should move the buckeyes up.
Florida still has the university of S. Florida ranked in the top 10. Academics are pretty easy there so the Liberty City guys are goin there now to play football and have other people take their tests for them. And Florida State should move up the ladder a bit this week. So goes the state of Florida.
The "U" IS rebuilding and with their new coach recruiting should be back in the top 10, not next year but the year after. Bill, I smell a wager in the air. I can give you double or nothing against the xlr bet.

Naw G.A.R.Y. we keep the XLR bet alive and we will be putting the
s _ _ t on each other for the next 5 years1 Why quit? For those not familiar with our bet, I bet that the XlR production run would not be longer than the Allante's (that is -no 8th MY). What do you guys think?
Who the H is S. Florida, do these guys have to go to class? How long before Monihan(sic) has Ave Marie U contending for a title?

Well Gary, the buckeyes are # 1 for now. What do you think? Hopefully they will stay there this year!!
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankings?pollId=2 Nice to have another Buckeye fan here like Bill!!!!
Is Bill correct about S. Florida, they don't have to go to class? #3??
G.A.R.Y.
10/14/2007 4:16:21 PM
I was waiting for Bill to rub it in, but they will be #1 next week for sure. This is not the year to be in the top 10. Almost everyone has got their butt kicked at least one game. So Buckeyes #1 Boston (ACC) #2 and S. Florida # 3. Of course most of their playas come from Miami.
Good luck Buckeyes, look out for #3.

Gary: Is it true that S. Florida has only had a team for the past 3 years only?

That school has been in the football business for 11 years. Their on campus stadium is brand new and they have been doing some great recruiting. Of course it is not the most difficult school academic-wise.
FAU with coach Shcnellenberger is about 7 years old I think, along with FIU which until last year was coached by Don Strock. All three of these schools will take away form the "U" recruiting, along with other schools from the north that come down here to recruit.

It takes a "special type" of school to develop a professinal type "football" team. And I expect the state taxpayers will support it. After all, all kids deserve a college education don't they? Whether they can read and write or not!
G.A.R.Y.
10/15/2007 11:36:57 AM
So you guessed it. These three along with Florida and FSU are all state schools. Florida has about 30k students while the "U" has about 10k and private.

The bc / va tech game last night reminded me a little of the flutie hail mary game against THE "U". I'm rooting for the ACC team to win it all. Boston could be the city of champions................................................for a year.

Florida gets trounced by the bulldogs. I have just become a BC fan. Would love to see a team from the ACC win it all.
The "U" was just written up by espn as having potentially the best recruiting class in the country. Probably still 2 years out but it should be exciting.

Hard to figure this year out. Look how many top 10 teams have been knocked out since the beginning of the year.
Last week the Uof M knocks off top 25 team FSU, This week FSU knocks off BC and The U of M loses to unranked NC State.Of course their #1 qb was out due to injury. In order for a ACC team to make it now, either LSU or OSU would have to lose and BC win out.

Poor ole Buckeye Bill Coates. Thanks for comming but no dance for you. Nice run though.
BC 2 loses in a row, no dance for them either.
There is always next year.
