Engine troubles

    Hey I have a 1976 Cadillac Deville and it just recently started bogging down and almost backfiring when I push on the gas. If I continue to push on the gas it bogs down and cuts out. Any ideas?

If it has a points distributor, then verify the dwell is at 30. Backfiring underhood is usually either timing, or dwell incorrect or a worn accelerator pump in the carb. Could be a clogged fuel filter but unlikely. The filter in the carb will by pass if restricted.
