Hi,
I amnew to the forum and I would like to ask you for the following problem I have been experiencing in the last month.  I have a 2001 Deville.  The problem is that frequently (2 times a day) when I stop the car at the stop sign or traffic light, the engine shuts off.  It's not difficult to turn the engine On again.  What is the problem?? I checked the battery cable and did not find them loose.  What else should I be looking at?
I would appreciate if you have experience a similar problem or know the solution.
Thank you in advance....
Andrew

I would have the engine computer scanned for codes.

Well, the problem is the car is out of warranty and wondering how much will the dealer charge me for the scanning.

have you seen  Close Encounters of the Third Kind ?    his truck shuts down at stopping.

starting with the truck on theat movie, we are looking at 1,000+ possibilities, the codes narrow
down to maybe 5 to 10 possibitlies PER CODE.

need the codes.  they were put there by the GM Eng to SAVE YOU $$$$$ in diagnostics.

need the codes.

Replace the crankshaft position sensors.  there are 2 of them.  1 gray and one black. on the front of the motor, be easier with a lift...the parts are not expensive, wheni worked on the. I only charged an hour to do them...also you may have to use a tech to to learn the new sensors in

I have an STS that was doing the same thing. Ran the bleep out of it a couple of times (top side) and problem stopped. Just my opinion and experience. Northstar 300HP.
