egr replacement

Hi all,replaced me egr valve on my 92 coup de villa, removed bat cable and when i install it back, when turning on car it reved up came back down to an idel,check light still on and tranny dose'nt shift right, puzzeled can any one help. Thanks

Enter diagnostics and write down all fault codes and whether they are current or history. sometimes after reconnecting a battery, the engine must re learn the idle which could account for the hi RPM on restart.
