My left rear caliper is hung up after using the e-brake the first time ever.  It's been hung for over a week and I'm trying to change the rear pads.  The right side I had no problem, the left side on the other hand.. I can't get the piston turned back in, it's like froze or something.  Do I need a new caliper or is there a way to get that piston back in?  I've been tryin to get it with a brake square.. don't know what else to try
Thanks!

Look for a bleeder on the caliper open that then turn it in. Other words you need a new one

Hmm i didnt see the E-brake part, if i remember right theres something mechanical on the rear calipers but very little for that E-brake. I could be wrong though, does it seem to have anything mechanically holding the piston out?

I unhooked the parking brake cable from the notch.. I unhooked the brake line too.

ok well hows the cable look? is the plastic liner on it all bubbly? As for the caliper there should be something that cable hooked onto in order to force the piston out for the E- brake.

I just took the caliper off the car and brought it in the house.. starting to get dark out...  everything looked good when I took the wheel off the car.   I took the spring and bolt off the caliper that looks like it works the e-brake.  There is a piece of metal that the e-brake cable was hooked to, I couldnt move it with the spring still attached.  It moves now (rusted pretty bad) with pliers but still no luck on the piston going in.

I guess you're right.. I've tried everything to get it back in.

Thanks again Big.

My guess is you don't use parking brake much, and when you did actuator stuck in the applied position. It it possible to rebuild caliper youself  however,re-man calipers usually cost less than the parts required to repair calipers that have parking brake actuators built into the pistons. So get a re-man caliper(s) its suggested to replace in pairs, and use parking brake atleast weekly to lessen the chance it will happen again.

Was lookin on ebay at calipers... Anyone know if the calipers from pre '98 will fit?  or where I can find that info?  Thanks

Most likely not, 1998 was the first year of  redesign which ran til 04. It is not recommended to use used brake parts, most of the time something bad happened to make the used.Hope it helps
