I have a 94 Seville SLS. It is leaking oil badly. Driving down the road and at a stop light, smoke is coming from the hood.  I recently changed the plugs and found the #6 plug soaked in oil. Any insights? I need to make this car safe and hopfully not catch on fire. Any help would be appreciated!

Smoking bad means oil on exhaust manifolds so it has to be coming from the heads. Gaskets gone bad on valve train covers?

what part of the plug was soaked in oil?
the outside or the part that goes INSIDE the engine?

Is there anything special to replacing the valve cover gaskets? At first glance it looks like the coil packs need to be removed. Do they? Is there any tricks, or things to look out for? Also what gaskets would you go with?

dont know what all your engine has up there in the way. i simply work my way through it.
mechanics may charge up to $500 to do the job.  gaskets cost around $30.

the gasket is a simple as a clean up job, install new gaskets, apply sealer IF applicable,
and "TORQUE" properly.  buy the best gasket you can find. the extra $5 or so will be
money well spent.

TORQUE properly - i cant say that enough times.
TORQUE properly.

seriously, TORQUE properly.

not tight enough and they will leak, again.
break them and now the job got really expensive.

Felpro has a cover gasket kit, it includes the spark plug tube seals and grommets.  Auto Zone wants like $70, but can find it on Ebay a few buck cheaper for the same kit.  The coil packs lift out of the way, on my 98 sts there was 3 bolts holding down the tray the 4 coil packs are on.

My 94 Seville was smoking like a chimney. It was the head gaskets. I replaced them, cost around 600 bucks from a local mechanic.
