1991 Weird Nosie

It doesn't always do it but some times my Spedometer goes out and them my engines makes a weird noise like its having shifting problems then the nosie goes away and the spedometer comes back on and the nosie goes away. What could my problem be?

ok so i bought a 91 seville about a month and a half ago, and since then i had 2 replace the  serpentin belt, altaotor, batterey, spark plugs, and distubior cap. Thinking these were a reason my caddy wont start, i took out the starter and brought it 2 Advanced Auto and Checkers and tested it. They both said it was fine but i still have problems starting it but it doesnt happen all the time. So should i replace the Starter or what?

i dont get it.
how can it make weird noises if it wont start?
